Whenever I get discouraged that widespread change throughout Africa requires effort from corrupt governments, maps like these remind me that the real change comes from the people. As Bill Easterly put it,

“This gives us hope that the dynamism of the bottom from entrepreneurs can overcome sclerosis at the top.”
