Peru has managed to do something that no country I have ever visited in Africa can do. They sort waste at the source. It’s certainly not everywhere – not in the poorer sections of town – but the fact these labeled garbage bins were located in a smaller transit town in this region says a lot for the country’s environmental future.

And it’s a good thing that Peruvians do seem to care about waste management, or at least are starting to care, because their natural environment deserves this type of care.
